Understanding Design Language The task was to learn the underlying structure of a publication and its web counterpart. The publication I selected was Fader. I chose it for its distinctive style and content (at the time I was a regular reader of the publication). Using The Fader's distinctive style my partner and I created an analysis book using the information we found. The book served as a meta analysis of style and structure. With this project I learned that there is a distinctive language each publication follows in order for it to be read as consistent. The distinctive language has to be translated between various medias and with a good system the design language should translate in a natural and expected way.

T H E T A X O N O M Y

Various sections of the magazine had specific attributes to which they adhered. My partner and I broke them down into 3 specific categories type, column number, and section specific information.

Compare and contrast explores the commonality and difference in the attributes of Fader's website and print publication.
